This week I am joined by Mike Rogers, a local rugby coach who has done it the hard way. Mike doesn’t have a professional playing background, he has made his way up through the grades, initially coaching club rugby, before coaching representative age group teams and from there moving on to be part of the Bay of Plenty Steamers coaching group in 2019 and 2020.
Despite success with the Bay he was unable to maintain his role and this year turned his attention to being assistant coach with Waikato Women’s Team who won the national championship for the first time in their history.
Mike speaks openly and candidly about what he thinks we need to do in order to best support coaches and what he believes to be most important in coaching and coach development.
